Why do I keep eating when I’m not hungry?
What if your eating habits aren’t the problem. What if they are trying to tell you something?
I help you change how you respond to cravings, pressure and the changes life brings.
Feel more at ease. More in control. More like YOU.
Understand what's happening
Recognise the thoughts, feelings and situations behind the responses you want to change.
Question old beliefs
Loosen the old rules and expectations that keep you feeling you should, must or ought to. So you have more room to choose.
Make different choices
Try different ways to respond to cravings, pressure, emotions and those familiar “I’ve blown it” moments that catch you out.
Build on what works
Build on what works for you until it becomes who you are and what you do. Not something you need to remember.
Is this you?
You open the fridge. Nothing appeals. You close it, and look again five minutes later. Just in case.
You can manage a demanding day, make difficult decisions and be the person everyone relies on. Yet come evening, you’re negotiating with yourself over a packet of biscuits.
You’re not hungry. You eat anyway. Then comes the familiar question: “Why do I keep doing this?”
Or maybe the habits that used to work for you no longer seem to. Your clothes fit differently, you’re tired but can’t switch off, and you don’t quite feel like yourself.
You want to stop battling with food, your body and yourself.
What is Hypno-CBT?
Knowing you’re not hungry doesn’t always stop you reaching for something. You can know all about healthy eating and still find yourself finishing the packet of crisps.
Hypno-CBT combines hypnotherapy with techniques drawn from cognitive behavioural therapy. Together, we explore the thoughts, feelings, habits and beliefs behind those moments—including beliefs you may not realise you’re carrying.
Perhaps you learnt to finish everything because “starving people would be grateful”. Food might mean safety, comfort or reward. We explore how those beliefs affect you, whether they still hold true and alternatives that fit who you are now.
Hypnotherapy uses focused attention, guided relaxation and imagery to support this work. That might involve rehearsing how to handle a craving, practising winding down or exploring what menopause has brought up about your body and confidence.
The aim is more room to pause and choose—so old rules and expectations have less say in how you eat, how you see yourself and how you live now.
How we work together
This isn’t a diet. You don’t need to arrive with a food diary or a promise to be “good” from Monday.
We work on the thinking behind your responses: the beliefs, expectations and familiar mental habits that influence how you eat, cope with pressure and feel about yourself.
Some may have been with you for years. Together, we explore how they affect you, question whether they still hold true and practise different ways of thinking and responding.
The aim is to feel more relaxed and in control around food, move beyond “good” and “bad” labels and make room for rest without guilt. That includes how you respond to changes in your body, confidence and life.
I draw on Hypnotherapy CBT, coaching, NLP and acting-based embodiment through my Accelerated Change Technique (ACT™). We agree a focus that fits your history, circumstances and what you want to change.
On a programme, you receive personalised audios, practical exercises and check-ins between sessions. These help you return to the work, rehearse different responses and put them into practice.
Individual hourly sessions also include personalised audios.
Food and movement remain part of the conversation. I’m not a nutritionist; my focus is the psychological and behavioural work that supports the changes you choose.
1. Tell me what it's like for you.
The evening snacking. The running commentary in your head about what you should or shouldn’t eat. The difficulty switching off. The changes in your body or confidence that you weren’t prepared for.
We talk about what happens in those moments, what you’ve already tried and what else is happening in your life. There’s room for the things you find hard to explain or feel you “should” be able to manage.
Together, we agree what you want to change.
2. Understand what keeps you stuck
We look at the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and habits behind your eating.
Perhaps finishing your plate feels compulsory, food is your reward or resting leaves you feeling guilty. You may not have noticed the rule behind the response.
We explore where those beliefs came from, how they affect you and whether they still hold true. Then we develop alternatives that fit who you are now and how you want to live.
3. Put change into practice
Knowing something intellectually is different from responding differently in the moment. Through hypnotherapy, CBT practical exercises and rehearsal, we work on applyin alternatives to situations you recognise. Your personalised audios give you a way to continue practising between sessions.
On programmes, check-ins give us space to review what’s happening, build on what helps and adjust what doesn’t.
The aim is more choice in those familiar moments. Difficult days give us something to learn from, rather than another reason to tell yourself you’ve failed.
Three programmes. Which one sounds like you?

About Me
At 15, I weighed 15 stone. At 17, I was prescribed amphetamines to lose weight.
Then came the diets. Atkins, Weight Watchers, Slimming World, even grapefruit and egg. The weight came off, then went back on and usually brought extra.
Three years ago, a stress-induced heart attack made me stop. Rehabilitation meant changing how I ate and exercising regularly. I lost 4 stones and haven’t put it back on.
Six weeks after the heart attack, I started my Hypno-CBT diploma. And I began to understand why I’d always had an issue with food and to change my underlying beliefs and thoughts.
After 20 years helping people navigate organisational change, I now focus on helping individuals change their relationship with food.
I’m a qualified Hypno-CBT therapist, an ILM Level 7 coach and a Master Practitioner of NLP.
And I know what it’s like to stand at that fridge.
